Covid-19: advice for UK visa applicants and temporary UK residents

The Home Office have updated their Coronavirus (COVID-19): advice for UK visa applicants and temporary UK residents.

Recent changes:

  • The concession detailed in the ‘If you’ve applied for a Health and Care Worker visa and are waiting for a decision on your application’ section will end on 4 October 2022. Applicants with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) assigned after this date cannot begin work until they have received their visa. More information is available in the If you’re working for the NHS section.

  • UKVI continues to prioritise Ukraine Visa Scheme applications in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the invasion of Ukraine. Applications for some visas are taking longer to process. Find out more on the visa decision waiting times page.

  • The ‘If you’re in the UK’ section has been amended, updating the exceptional assurance visa or leave expiry date to 31 October 2022.

  • If your Visa Application Centre (VAC) is closed due to coronavirus restrictions, you can apply online and select a VAC in another country worldwide to submit your application and biometrics. You’ll need to make sure you’re permitted to travel to that country beforehand.
